Riverboats and Paddleboat Cruises and Inns

Riverboats and Paddleboat Cruises and Inns | The American Queen Steamboat - World's Largest The largest steamboat ever built, the grand American Queen is a gracious and elegant triumph of American ingenuity. Although filled with today?s modern amenities, her rooms and accommodations display all the opulence of the American Victorian era. Glistening woodwork, fresh flowers and antiques adorn her interior spaces. Outside, lacy filigree evokes memories of the many stately river steamers that preceded her and so inspired her designers. While on board, you can select a volume from the vast collection in the Mark Twain Gallery, the boat?s library. Or enjoy a sing-along in the Main Deck Lounge, and then tap your toes to a lavish show in the two-deck-tall Grand Saloon, the most elegant showplace on the river. Complete Story, Photos and Video |

 | The Delta King Riverboat in Old Sacramento, California The Delta King Hotel in Old Sacramento is a unique Sacramento treasure. The authentic riverboat plied the Sacramento River between San Francisco and Sacramento from 1927 to 1940. During World War II it served as a troop transport on San Francisco Bay. After the war the Delta King became a derelict roaming the Delta, without purpose or home. It sank at Richmond in San Francisco Bay in 1982 for a period of 18 months. In 1984 the Delta King was brought to Sacramento where it underwent an extraordinary renovation at a cost of $9 million. Today it is a beautiful floating hotel with modern lodging amenities, 2 acclaimed restaurants offering casual and fine dining, 2 professional theaters, a wine school and exceptional facilities for weddings and meetings. The Delta King is the best of the old world and the new. Complete Story and Photos |
